There are 628 known bird species in this area and over 70 migratory species. Many of these species cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Surrounded by ancient history, Minca offers plenty of sites full of Kogi Indian history. The Kogi Indians fled to higher grounds when the Spaniards arrived in Santa Marta. Kogis were the only Indian tribe not to be conquered by them, and they have remained reclusive moving up the mountain. However, some of them do come down and visit the area. For those who enjoy treasure hunting, Indian pottery is still found in the Minca River.

Travel to Casa Santander
There are several options of transportation to reach Minca. The road to Minca is very accessible and you can arrange to arrive by private car or via mass transit, both which are readily available from Cartagena and Barranquilla Airports.
How do I get to Casa Santander when I reach Minca?
From the center of Minca take a right towards the Church. Past the church and look for the sign" Casa Santander" make a right and follow the road down, pass "Buruake", but if you pass "Dona Ana" you have gone too far.
